According to a study by DISCOVERY Research Group, the market of organic fertilisers in Russia in 2016 demonstrated growth.

In 2016, the volume of organic fertilizer application in agricultural organizations in Russia amounted to 65,221 million tonnes, 2% more than in 2015. The largest proportion of fertilizer accounted for Stavropol Krai – 13%. Followed by the Belgorod region is 12.1%. In third place is the Voronezh region of 7.7%.

In the period from 2013 to 2016 the largest share of fertilizer provided under grains and legumes (without maize) – about 50%. Under the feed was introduced about 25-30% of the total volume of organic fertiliser under a sunflower – 5%.

In 2016, the volume of import of organic fertilizers in Russia amounted to 211 tonnes, which is 98% less than in 2015. The largest volume of imports in Russia in 2013-2016 fertilizers of animal or vegetable origin had on Belarus.

According to manufacturers, there are several reasons for the growth of the market. One of them – the overall trend for the greening of food production. Russia in this plan adopts the experience of Western countries where this trend has been observed before.

In addition, the products grown with the use of only mineral fertilizers lack many useful properties and can even be hazardous to health. It is also noted that the use of mineral fertilizers leads to soil depletion.
