8 August first Deputy Minister of agriculture of Russia Dzhambulat Hatuov held a working meeting "About condition and prospects of flax production in the Russian Federation".

"For the effective work of the sub-sector it is necessary to make a complete plan for the development of the flax industry in the next few years. Need to work together to form a complete list of businesses and households who plan modernization of production facilities and equipment", — addressed to participants of meeting the first Deputy Minister.

He added that the Ministry of agriculture began in the industry agreed with the Ministry of industry and trade policy, since the demand from the textile remains a defining factor in the further development of the flax complex of Russia.

Speaking about mechanisms of state support, Dzhambulat Hatuov said that in 2017 the regions in which industry and flax cultivation is a traditional and economically significant, can be allocated from the Federal budget to support the production of flax fiber under a single grant. And also the enterprises for production and processing of flax can be included in the mechanism of preferential lending for the timely submission of the appropriate applications for 5% of the loan for modernization or construction of new enterprises for production and processing, the purchase or upgrade of equipment, the creation of breeding and seed production centers, logistics bases.

Speaking with the main report, the Director of the Department of crop production, mechanization, chemicalization and plant protection Chekmarev Petr called leading in 2016, the regions for the production of flax fiber: Omsk oblast (7.5 thousand tons), Smolensk oblast (5.1 thousand tons), Tver oblast (5.0 thousand tons), Altai Krai (4,8 thousand tons), Udmurtia (3.9 thousand tons), Vologda oblast (3.4 thousand tons). In General, the cultivation of flax in the past year was conducted in 17 subjects of the Russian Federation on the area of 48,5 hectares.
