According to the Ministry, the average consumer price of buckwheat in Russia as at 31 July amounted to 68,7 rubles per kilogram, down from the beginning of the year by 19.1%.

"In the period up to the end of this year is expected to stabilize and further reduce prices in connection with the arrival on the market of the new crop," – said the press service.

"Currently a decline in prices for buckwheat and buckwheat caused by the saturation of the market with domestic production. So, stocks of buckwheat production and processing enterprises above the same period last year by 2.1 times against the background of high crop – above the average for the last five years in 1,5 times", – the Ministry added.

According to the agriculture Ministry, this year's crop of buckwheat are also projected above the average for the previous five years, 18.6%. Buckwheat production in January-June 2017 also exceeded the same period last year by 27.1%.

According to Rosstat, the average price of agricultural producers in June was at the level of 14,770 thousand rubles a ton of buckwheat, which is 17% lower than the same period last year, said the press service of the Ministry.
