The commodity turnover of agricultural products between Uzbekistan and Russia increased by 20%

During the opening ceremony of the II International fruit and vegetable fair in Tashkent, Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergey Levin noted: "Russia and Uzbekistan have traditionally enjoyed close and friendly relations, and cooperation in agriculture between our countries is one of priority directions of bilateral economic partnership".

Pursued by Russia and Uzbekistan, the work of building up the supply of agricultural products has positive results.

In a press-service of the Ministry of agriculture said that in 2016, the commodity turnover of agricultural products between the countries grew by almost 20% to $398 million (in 2015 - $334 million). Import of Uzbek agricultural products to Russia have doubled, mainly due to the growth in the supply of horticultural products and made a turnover of agricultural products between the countries grew by almost 20%.

In particular, deliveries from Uzbekistan tomatoes increased 3 times, grapes - almost 2 times, apples and pears - more than 30 times, stone - more than 20 times, other fresh fruit - 10 times.

Along with this, there is the potential for expansion of export of Russian agricultural products in Uzbekistan, which in 2016 amounted to turnover of agricultural products between the countries grew by almost 20%.

Russian exporters are interested in increasing the supply of sugar, oil and fat products, in particular, sunflower and soybean oil, and seed potatoes on the Uzbek market. There is also the possibility to increase supplies of grain, fish and fish products, confectionery in Uzbekistan. There is interest in organizing deliveries of meat, including beef.

"We attach special importance to the development of our relations in this sphere and are ready to provide the necessary for the Uzbek side, the volume of supply at affordable prices", — said Deputy Minister stressed that the Russian side supports the establishment of a "green corridor" between Russia and Uzbekistan.
