More than a hundred farmers milk and dairy products from South Bulgaria blocked the traffic on the highway leading from the town of Yambol to checkpoint "forest sod soils", to protest against the lack of state policy in the field of livestock and reduction of purchase prices for milk. Protesting farmers poured onto the asphalt a few tens of liters of milk, expanding this posters "Yes - Bulgarian products, no import fakes!", "Bulgarian milk is the best in Europe".

As stated by the Chairman of the Regional Association of milk producers Georgi Georgiev, industry today is facing bankruptcy. "We are on the brink of survival, and if you wait another 2-3 weeks, many of the farmers who came to the protest, perhaps, you will go bankrupt and be forced to sell or kill their animals, "writes the BNR.

Georgiev said that one of the main demands of the protesters is the establishment of a guaranteed purchase prices for milk throughout the year. According to him, over the past two months, the purchase price per litre of raw milk fell by almost 40%, from 0.80 to 0.50 leva. The import of milk and dairy products at dumping prices from other EU countries increasingly pushes Bulgarian manufacturers of the market, said Georgiev.

Protests are reacted in the Ministry of agriculture and food of Bulgaria. The head of the Directorate "Livestock" Zlatka Veselova promised that the government will soon prepare a resolution of contractual relations between milk producers and buyers. Their contracts will be recorded in the state Fund "Agriculture" and controlled by the Fund. Also, according to her, the negotiations will be held with the Agency on food safety on increasing control to the Bulgarian dairy products prevailed in large chain stores.
