More than 260 tons of food products from the EU, mainly dairy products, do not miss the customs officers across the Russian-Finnish border since the introduction of an embargo on the importation of these goods in August 2014.

As the press service of the North-West customs administration, for three months, the staff of the Vyborg customs returned to Finland 17 cars with a total weight of goods 263,8 tons, including more than 128 tons of milk and dairy products manufactured in Finland, 59,9 tons of Norwegian fish, 42,4 tons of vegetables production in the Netherlands and Finland and 33.2 tons of products based on vegetable fats from Germany and Finland.

Representatives of the Vyborg customs explained that "most banned the import of goods was returned to Finland in the first days after the ban, but attempts to import such goods into the Russian Federation continues to this day." One of the latest facts, when through the checkpoint "cranberry" in three cars tried to import more than 58 tons Finnish butter initiated administrative proceedings.

Similar reports are coming from Kingisepp customs, working on the Russian-Estonian border and in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region. Here have repeatedly thwarted attempts to import large quantities of food from the EU. In October, the customs officers found on ships that arrived in Ust-Luga, more than 160 tons of pork from the Netherlands, imported under the guise of frozen mushrooms from China.
